hi folks, i'm a complete newb to mopar or any classic american so please be understanding..

i have a 66 ply belvedere sedan and original 14s seen better days 20 years ago- i would like to invest on 15x7 or 8 police wheels and would like some help sizing the tires, i plan to lower the front by loosening the torsion bars and lowering blocks(where do i find one?) for the rear springs about 2-3 inches.

what do you recommend that would fit the wheel arch nicely with out rubbing when lower?? would 7 inch wide be better than 8?

thank you!

66-67 B-bodies don't have the cavernous wheel wells of their 68-70 brothers. If you want pure and simple function, I wouldn't stray much wider than 7" wheels. If you decide to go with 8" wheels, do some careful measuring, especially on the rear, before you place your order.

I have 8's on my 67 r/t and would not reccommend them. They do make a 245 by 60 by 15 tire look wider than usual but I have minimal clearence on each side with trimmed wheel wells. 7's worked best and I ran 255's on the back with good clearence. As stated above...the wells are not fat tire friendly

Cop rims came in 8? ???????
All mine are 7 and I like that fine.
I even run them on A bodies.
Diplomat (and concurrent Fifth Aves.) have 15X7 steel rims if you find them cheep in a junk yard.
And I would recommend 215 70R15 too as a good size since I know they fit my A bodies.
The Duster body style, that is.

This is a good deal.

Yes, drop the 14 inch tires. No reason to run them unless you are going resto. They are getting hard to find.

Ran 15x7 cop car wheels on my 66 sedan with 225-75-15's and the only time the rears would rub is if I articulated the car going into a steep driveway and they they would rub on the inside top of the wells.

thanks for all your comments, wheelvintiq had 15x8s for sale, but sounds like the 7 wide is way to go perhaps,
how about when lowered? am i pushing with 225-70-15 lowered couple inches? im not looking to slam the thing but low and slow stance- level it few inches off the ground

15x7 all around 24560x15 on rear, 23570x15 on front, close to rub, also would recommend ta's for stiffer side wall.

15x7 Magnum 500s here and pretty minimal clearance. Fronts rub at full lock and I can barely get the rears on or off with the axle at full droop.
