I have a pair of 1962 2402286 Max Wedge heads for sale. I had the heads rebuilt, new valves (2.08 / 1.88), hardened exhaust valve seats, new valve guides, MW iron ductile rocker arms, rocker shafts, aluminum stands and the four bolt valve covers. I still have the heads on the engine will be removing them by the end of 2015. I will be replacing them due to the cylinder pressure is to high (195 / 200 psi) to run on pump gas.
I have $2500 invested in them and I'm open to offers.

Dont they make a thicker "spacer" head gasket for this? That may lower pressure a little?

Yes they do (Cometic) . Lowered mine to 10.1 and runs fine on pump gas.

To start with I will be pulling the engine soon to fix a leaky rear main seal. My intentions when build the engine was to increase the displacement (535) and have the compression in the 9:1 / 10:1 neighborhood. The Max Wedge heads should work well with the 535. The problem is that I'm not able to properly set my timing do to pre-ignition, 20 degrees initial and stiff springs to hold the advance to 4200 rpm. I managed to get through the summer and fall but need to figure this out. I have 195 / 200 cylinder pressure so my compression is probably 11:1 or higher. After digging through my invoices I found discrepancies with the deck height. I'm also considering a thick head gasket or shim. I would require .080 gasket to lower compression to 10.23:1.
