1963 Plymouth 8 3/4 id

Selling my '63 Fury .. a guy asked " Does it have the original 8-3/4 rear end with the >splined axle and nut on the outside ? <. What am I looking for to id. this. I know its an 8 3/4 but don't know what he is referring to by splined axle nut and how to tell ..they were used prior to '65 and I guess he wants to know if it's original...thanks.

big nut in the center of the rear lug nuts.Hard to see but the only photo I got.

OK I got it..didn't know what the hell he was referring to, thought 8 3/4's were all the same. thanks

It would look like the rearend in the center of this picture.

They are referred to as a taypered axle. The newer ones are flanged axels.

Correct - I switched out the original axles/housing on my '63 Fury with a '65 Coronet exact fit to drop the old tapered ones.

Yeah I just popped off the center cap off my mag wheel and there is a bolt with a cotter pin .. didn't know earlier models were different. thanks
