Q's for ya all ? If I take a 64 426 wedge block , bore it .30 over and use M/W heads do I have to cut valve reliefs in block ? And if so, will I find any other unforeseen issues in my build ?
 
Yes, I believe you still need to grind valve reliefs in the block, but others on this site know more than I do.
 
this is a std 4.250 bore. So a + .060 will remove the notch

Glad you asked that, cuz I would love to hear the answer from a bona-fide expert, which I am not. My understanding is that those big 1.88's would not hit the block even without the notches, but it is highly desirable to have them to unshroud the exhaust valves to enhance the flow. I've never tried to mock mine up (yet), so i'd love to hear from someone who knows the real answer.
 
It also based on the cam you're using two as far as the lift goes. Max wedge engines had the valve reliefs in the cylinder walls and in the Pistons. Here is my max wedge engine with factory pistons in it with the valve reliefs.
