Let the debate begin.

* Stock Engines {Balanced and Blueprinted}
* Stock Exhaust
* 4-Speed
* 3.91 Gears
* 7" Wide x 28" Tall 'Cheater Slicks'

Can either car break under the '14-Second' barrier.

426 Street Wedge wins
I think it could get under 14 sec....

Honestly the 383 is kind of a dog.... a loving dog though :)

I only ever saw one road test of the 64 Street wedge and it only had 3.23 gears and with the extra weight of the test equipment it ran 15.1. Myself an all stock 426 street wedge in a 64 Ply with 3.91's should run easy mid 14's all stock. With a good super tune I would think it could crack 13''s with a good driver. Most 383 Runners with 3.23's all stock ran low 15's to high 14's. With 3.91's and a good super tune I would think mid to low 14's all stock. All stock I would give the edge to the 64 Ply 426 street wedge.
That 13 second 426 street wedge 1964 Dodge in the 50 fastest was most likely super tuned as most did not get in the 13's stock. The 426 street wedge did not have a very good intake or exh as the basic 440 I believe had a better intake and exh. Now if we talk Max Wedge.............well with just the cutouts popped open and cheater slicks Hot Rods low comp 63 Maxie hit 12.60's @ 112 ! Ron

* Shipping Weight....... #3347 lbs.
* 426/365 HP
* 9.17 Wt/HP {Weight-to-Horsepower}

Car Magazine Tests

With a 4-Speed and 3.55 Gears, and stock tires 7.50 x 14" {27.5" tall}, most came in with Elapsed Times between 15.10 and 15.30, and with the MPH between 93 to 95.

* 'Road Test Magazine' pulled a 14.91 @ 96.7 MPH, which claimed the best ET and MPH.

Friend's all stock 66 Coronet 500 w/ a 383 auto and 3.23s went 14.70s like clockwork on Mag 500s w/ street radials (1300 ft). W/ a 4 speed, 3.91s, and stickier tires I would certainly think 13's wouldn't be out of the question.

64 w/ a 426? Duh.

This of course is assuming that someone who can launch and shift worth a damn is piloting.

Jeez these cars were slow.

Yeah,
I'm just watching the posts on this one....
I'm unsure of the "winner"
Too many variables.

I believe the 1964 Plymouth Belvedere 'Sedan' ~ "426" Commando.

* Shipping Weight............................ #3347 lbs.
* Front-to-Rear Weight Distribution..... 54/46 {1807 lbs. / 1540 lbs.}

I don't recall ever seeing a 1964 Plymouth {426 Street Wedge} have traction problems at the Track with 7" Wide Slicks in Stock Class.
