I recently purchased a 1964 Dodge Polara 500, 383 engine, power brakes. The front brakes are shot so I have decided to convert it over to disc (Front only). I started looking at kits and there seems to several different vendors. Does anyone have a suggestion? It will spend 95% of it's time on the street.

If you search here on FBBO for disc brakes, you should find several threads on this subject the last couple years. It's worth doing the search.

It depends on what you want---go cheap with salvage yard parts or other options. In my case I used "Scarebird" Kit which was a heavy duty adapter bracket adapter bushings to fit your spindle and installation instuctions, a complete list of parts that you can buy new at your auto parts store. I get a good discount on my parts. I had to use 15" wheels to clear the big calipers which I was going to do anyway. I am very well pleased with it . The only downside is that this is heavy duty stuff, and if it is heavier in weight than stock, it will add to "unsprung weight" Important or not?......................................MO

Got Volare brakes/sway bar on my wagon 102_5043.jpg

Wilwood Pro Street brakes with vented rotors.

Very light and work great on the street. Far lighter than a "normal" disc conversion.

depends on your pocketbook. I went scarebird upfront and forgot the kit i got for the rear but it was one of the few with a e brake option. It was kind of nice to go to napa with the part #'s and get home with everything I needed to finish the job in one sitting. take the time to paint your calipers before assembly.

My 3900 lb brick is mostly street driven with 3 or 4 times to the track. I saw the stock parts conversion along with many other put together deals. I went with SSBC because they have a 4 piston caliper, and the kit was complete right down to the cotter pins.
