Scored a 1964 or 1965 413 stamped V41 (passenger car) and dated 1 24 at least I think that's the date. Its complete minus the carb. The 727 cable shift tranny is still attached. My guess is that the heads are 2406516 used from 64 to 67 in 361,383,413 & 426 rb motors. 2.08 intake and 1.60 exhaust.

I also have 2 sets of 2843906 heads and I'm questioning which to use in the rebuild. The 906 heads have bigger exhaust valves 1.74.

Just going to be a street engine. Wanted to try and keep it period correct. Going to bore it to 426 ci displacement (yeah I already know the piston story), mild hydraulic cam, updated aluminum intake, HEI ignition and headers. 8 3/4 sure grip from a 67 B body, gears somewhere around 3.5 to 3.7 and a slightly over stock converter.

Any thoughts on which heads to use ?

I know the 413's by some are considered boat anchors but I'm going that direction. 440's are way to common for me-want something different.

Thanks

I say build it.... I was always a fan of staying away from the normal, kind of why I never went the 440 route as well..

I agree, build it if it's a good candidate. Screw the naysayers, it's your car. Now if it was a race car then it would be 440 all the way but for what you're doing it makes sense. If the tranny has a conventional u-joint over the ball and trunnion then it will be a '65 and you will need a '65 and up driveshaft. Headwise, I'm always a fan of 906s.
