1964 polara steering wheel horn ring and pad removal

Hi guys, I got my father a new repop steering wheel for his 1964 polara for Christmas. I was wondering how to get the horn pad and ring off? I don't want to damage the 50th anniversary badge in the centre by mistake. Thanks

I'm thinking that you push down on the horn ring and rotate it counter clockwise. Disconnect the battery first or pull the fuse.

I think there are two screws on the back side that hold it in pace.
