I am building a tribute Savoy, it will just get a BB of some sort unless I sell it first. It is a clear glass car. Only place I have found any new windshields is AMD an they are out of clear. I have used their tinted (green) on another Bel I built. Questions:
Should I use the tinted windshield although not correct but tinted does make sense. If I sell it, I don't want a buyer cryng because of such.
Is there another source for new windshields, I have looked at all the different glass co.s and have found nothing. These are silly high thru AMD and shipping is nuts. I probably can order thru a local ish AMD dealer and get a break on shipping but still nuts.

Have you tried Kramer? I believe that they have/had some in stock. Their shipping might be better?
I have a "new" spare windshield for my two '64's and I'm glad I didn't sell it when I was asked.
Your right, the shipping on EVERYTHING is nuts!!

Try Joe Suchy , [email protected] he carries a lot of the little things that you might . If you want to send me your email address in a pm and I will send you his parts list . Hope this helps John

Lie said LOOKING for something other than AMD ( Sushy and Kramer) as shipping is nuts. Hoping to find a local ish glass company that can get a windshield!!

Joe's price for clear or tinted was $233.00 He has 10 pages of new parts , a lot for your car

You may want to try a local Safelite. It's been awhile but they got me one for a 67 Dart.

Local glass companies, no reason to shop specialty Mopar stores especially with shipping involved.

I just purchased one at Auto City Classic . They had a few on hand.

I buy parts from Joe. He has the windshield, new price is just $25 higher, but AMD charges $175 to ship and another $35 to box it. $468 total. Then.... New gasket and wife and I aren't gonna try getting it in on our own.

As I said shipping is a bit expensive however if you have no choice these two should have the windshield:
Dodge/Chrysler - JR Distributor International Inc. (classic-new.com) JR has it in clear but by me in Calif
AutoCity Classic, in Minnesota probably has it Auto City Classic | Parts for Classic Cars & Trucks | 1958 Chevy Specialists
Jr. shows nothing. Classic has tinted. They figure about $20 more total than Joe. Shipping is what kills you. I will see if a fairly local AMD dealer can get it in and I pick it up there. I will drive 3 hrs to save a buck!!!

Jr has clear listed as available, this is a 64?

Don’t go nuts getting one shipped. I just called the local glass place in June, they came out 3 days later and installed one for less than the pre-shipped cost from the various online outfits. If you were closer I’d give you a clear one.

I called the number in Mo the FBBOmemebr above gave me, and the lady there says most of these glass installers do not want to fool with ordering in a vintage windshield. I ran into this same deal back about 3 years ago and I finally got a Mex shop that got me one and installed it reasonable. I called probably 20 stores!!
I did finally find a local ish store (Mex) and she said the windshield I need is a week out and that would be great.
I will order a new gasket anyway.
I found the windshield at Classic for like $175 and shipping was like $250. Summit has the AMD for retail of $289 but shipping is less at $125 and he said no charge for boxing ( everyone else wants $35 for that)!
I will see if the local shop can get me a darn windshield!!! Thanks all for all the help!

Wow. Guess I got lucky! I reused the old gasket too!

I just played this game with my '64 Polara. I wanted to make sure the windshield was clear. It really bugs me to see a car of this era with a dark band of tint across the windshield. It just looks wrong.

All the glass installation companies like SafeLite and mom and pop local businesses only have access to the tinted glass. You can shop price with people who have a clear one in stock, but really you're splitting hairs. In the end you have to just bite the bullet and spend the money. Shipping is what makes it a bummer, but just look at it like this.... When all is said and done.... the car will look right. I bought the AMD through Summit Racing. I wanted a big company behind the deal just in case anything went sideways. It was actually a little cheaper than buying direct from AMD.

Once the windshield arrived, I installed it myself. It's easy. Watch some videos and get to it.
