All,
My dad and I are considering buying a '65 Coronet two-door post car. This car was originally a 318 with a 3 speed but now has a 440 and a 4 speed. The 440 is strong with an RPM intake and Holley carb. 3" exhaust is good. Transmission shifts well.

The car is mechanically sound but needs extensive body work. Multiple dings, needs a new floor, some rust on the quarters, needs a trunk lid, bondo removal, etc.

Interior needs some freshening up on the dash and new door panels.

What's it worth??? Being a two door post they are asking for $13K. Is it worth it? We are looking to make her into a nice driver which will some some strip use. Would like to have as much into it as it will be worth in the end.

We have been looking for a post car for a while.

Thoughts?

i've always thought a car is wroth what someone is willing to pay, personaly i would never pay that much for a car that needed that much body work, ?? call me crazy!

I like it. Back East that's a solid car.

Those are very desirable cars. They are more sought after than the 2 door hard tops. I agree that would be considered solid up this way. It may be a little high on the price. Hard to tell from your pics.

ya some one will probably buy it if you dont but are you willing to buy a car for that much coin and put another 20.000-30.000 into it .
key points in buying a car is parts to body to price to labor , do they equil out ? you could start on it and find piles of rot or not

I don't tell anyone what I paid for my 1965 Dodge Coronet 500 anymore, when I did they would give me grief for spending to much. But I do know it was exactly what I wanted and I realized at the time that I would never recoup all the money that I spent on it (and will still spend on it). I guess you will have to decide as you know your budget and what you intend to try achieve.

65 coronet

Hey : before u buy tell the owner , put it up on jack stands so u can take a look to really find out how solid or rusty it is , so u can judge for your self or find a hoist to raise it up on Before u fork out any cash , if he won't do it , bye , bye ! ! !

Buy it! Offer him 12k, but buy the car... A 2 dr post running with a 4 speed is very difficult to find and attractive to boot... You cant fix rust on a car you don't own! Buy the car! You will not regret it!!!

X2 for what SuperStockRacer posted! Maybe around $6500 IMO

I do not like post cars, maybe I`m "different", but the c-column of a hard top model looks MUCH better.

It sold. Sellers says he got $12,750

better for you. you had to see the 65 dodge coronet post car I bought for $12,000. rust free, new white paint job.A990 Seats, fiberglass VFN Hood. 446ci motor with single 4 bbl.holley. full autometer gauges and a turbo action shifter.
everything happens for a reason.
