I got mine (65 Coronet 440) from Layson's. They were the only one I found to sell the inners separate from the outers. I have a driver's side inner for anyone who could use it.

If they didn't, you would just have rough cut carpet ending at your door jamb.

Jeez… i am on vacation, so of course, I don’t have a pic. My carpet has a finished edge right to the edge. I will have to wait until I get back…grr…

You have to watch which inner trim plates your buying...

Someone duplicated them for a convertible and they are shorter than a H/T or Sedan requires...
