Any advice or pics to help me find the clip location so I can carefully remove an original mint door panel on a 1965 48k mile convertible?

The clips are located in the same locations as a hard top. Based on your description, I HIGHLY recommend you have an interior shop remove it. The panels get screwed up really easily. You can put it back on yourself
