1965 Dodge Coronet 500

i found a coronet 500 in a barn. it looks to be a 413. its a bucket seat car with a hurst 4 speed. what are the vin codes to look for??

The information I have is build sheet/fender tag option codes are 413 4 bbl is 071, 426 street wedge is 080, The 4 speed could be either for 64 and 65 is 343 and 65 only is 363. Hope this helps you figure it out. Good luck.

its that mettalic teal blue green color. its a hurst 4 speed with a consul. buckets seats. posi rear end. it a single 4 carter...

its only 4 thousand an i want to know what it is cuz i have to get a loan and im already in college.

can't tell if its a 383 or 413/426 wedge... differences??

The 383 4bbl fender tag or build sheet code is 061

383 4v is 061 code

413 4v is 071 code

426SW 4v is 080 code

k so again its a 1965 dodge Coronet 500 2 door HDT single 4 barrel big block car, 4 speed hurst, consul and buckets. solid color (teal mettalic). this thing has one dent in the passengers side front fender. it hass an inch of dust and i would be the third owner...

whats this thing really worth??

depends on the motor, which one does it have. 4,000.00 does not look like you are getting hurt, does it turn over or is it locked up. I would offer the person less if you think there is a chance to get it for less. The big thing is what do you figure you will have in it by the time you finish it. that is the magic question so you can figure out is it worth what ever you get it for.

i dn't know what motor it has cuz i didn't even know what it was till i went to go see it. my girl friends dad found it while lookin at a tractor.

the guy said he took it out after he brought it up here from Las vegas NV. he said it was very "lively". he put it away do to other projects. he said it roasted tires into third easily.

is there anything visulay different between the 413/426 and the 383??

i can get it for 4k. i figure i can put 1k in it and would sell. it just needs gaskets and fluilds, hoses...etc.

A 413 or a 440 will have the machined pad above the water pump housing and (more or less) in front of the left head. A LB (361 or 383) will not have this.

The reason I asked about color is my brother had a 65 Coronet 500 that was an original big block console 4 speed car. It was (basically) baby blue, with black vinyl top and blue bucket interior. I've been trying to find out what happened to the car

I got an email from you asking about this. I am sure that there are other web sites that specialize in 62-65 Mopars, but i don't have any of the addresses handy, maybe someone else will chime in with one. I really don't know a lot about pre-1966 cars with regards to coding and they are different animals in that regard. I do know that the V.I.N. will only tell you if it is a V8 or /6 so not much help there. You have to rely on what has been stated previously in this thread, the fender tag codes and the engine pad stampings. You should also look at the casting number and casting date on the side of the block. Compare the casting date and assembly date (on the engine pad stamping) with the scheduled production date on the fender tag, to help determine if it happens to be the original engine.

If you can take a picture of the fender tag and the engine stamping pad and post it you will get more help.

There was no 413 factory installed in the 1965s the 426/365 h.p. street wedge was the largest engine other than the SS race Hemi A990 package cars.

As far as value on this car, it depends primarily on the body, trim, and interior condition. If it has always been a Las Vegas car it should be pretty much rust free save for the front floor pans, which could be rusted on any old Mopar due to leaky wiper posts. The trim on these cars is difficult to find and expensive. Very little is available repro for any of the 67 back cars.
65 Coronet 500s are cool cars. I rode to high school everyday in my buddies gold/gold 65 Coronet 500 361 4 speed car, so i have a soft spot in my heart for them. They have their own following but it it not nearly as large as the 68-up Mopar cars and the values are not as high. Look on Ebay completed auctions, carsonline.com, etc. for asking prices to get an idea of what people are CURRENTLY willing to pay for these cars and to compare condition.

i am thinking of keeping it just cuz its a stick car and i have a 65 plymouth belvedere II race car. it would be col to have them in the same shop!!

hey guys!!!

i went and looked @ it again. this time i was more collected and looked over it real nice and got the numbers.



the door plate is W455-103936

reads 45,095 miles on the odometer, but a jiffy lube sticker says 145,095.

the paint is a repaint, looks like a mettalic black.

has original interior, buckets, teal/ lite blue color.

the fender tag had a 2 and a 9 in the upper left corner.

has a Carter 4 barrel carb # J9-780-S

yea i have a 65 belvedere II HDT. its my first car and its becoming an A-990 car with a 505 stroker.

Actually it's kind of behind the water pump to the drivers side of the distributor. Never saw a 413 in '65..... Good luck with it.
