My dream is to own a Mopar with a 440. As of now I have pulled the /6 out of the car because it was seized. I am doing a full restoration on this piece of history from interior, engine, and suspension. I have the choice to either throw another /6 back in it or go big and bad. I have a line on a 440 with a 727 torqueflite that runs and was rebuilt 20,000 miles ago for 650$. I have a 8 3/4 rear axle but beside that, I will need the motor mounts, to move the k frame back, a shorter drive shaft, adjusting the cross members under the trans, and a radiator, and obviously shocks and leaf springs to support the 440. What I need to know is if I am off my rocker, how much time and money is this going to take, and is it worth it. Before you guys answer that question let me explain the situation. I am a 20 year old college kid, working a summer job making about 2000 a month. I am living with the parentals so I dont have any bills to pay, and I want to make my dream car, a ride that I will eventually hand down to my children in the future. when finished this belvedere will become my daily. I am currently driving an old suburban that is overheating, even after replacing the heads and the water pump... damn chevy, and its days are numbered. So with this being said what are your guys' opinion. Just trying to make a decision here.

im doing the same thing you are, but i have a 4 spd car. i figure it will take around 25K to do the job doing most of the work myself.

i got a V8 k frame with the car, so i need to change that out as well.

for me, seeings that i have a post car i know it will be worth the money, there are not may posts out there, and the A990s were based of that platform.

to me, you may not get out what you put in dollar wise, but the quality of the job will guaranty a sale when and if i comes to that.

take your time, and do a good job.

It's a 4 door with everything original on it 50,000 original miles? Retired detectives car. Would need an entire refresh of the suspension + brakes + interior before he could get it driving. What do you guys think? /6 and drive it while searching for 440 conversion parts? then a 440 later?
