Are you talking about on the transmission side or the shifter side?Put the shifter in N, the then make sure the cable end slides in smoothly, Then same thing 1 or if it's a manual valve body 3. Should work then. Loosen the adjuster nut to get the play you need.
Trans side. Been a long time since I had the '65 trans, I may not recall the trans end accurately. Are you talking about on the transmission side or the shifter side?
Cables are hooked up on both sides of the shifter and the transmission when I take the transmission from Park to reverse I have to go all the way into neutral and then ease it back to reverse it's like it needs some fine adjustment. Do you think that needs to be done from the KHz asktransmission side or the shifter side if the transmission side do you pull a pan off and do it from the bottom or does the it looks like a solenoid for the cables go in the transmissionTrans side. Wow, you nailed it thanks so much! Exactly what I needed.
But as long as I use the console link you sent I should be right,,,right? The difference in the factory cable adjustment procedure is that the PB adjustment is done in Reverse while the console/column is done in 1st. If you try to use the PB procedure on the console/column there is another gear (Park) beyond Reverse, so you'll be one gear off.
