1965 AMC Rambler Ambassador 990 Convertible. It is almost entirely untouched and a survivor. It hasn’t had a paint job, or body repairs, that I I’ve found. I believe that the seats were redone in part because the car came with some extra original vinyl for the seats. If you’re looking for a pristine show car, you won’t find it here, not without a little work at least. This may turn some off, but this is the starting point you want to find if you plan on restoring a car. It has a big block 327. (Yes, I said big block Chevy fans). The top is power and it works. It will need new canvas. The interior is very nice with the only wear on the driver side beads. It has the air conditioning switch in the glove box. I don’t know what is wrong with the a/c, I never had a use for it, but everything’s there. I have put new brakes on the rear and just removed the electric fuel pump and put an OEM fuel pump on it. It will need a battery. The old one will not hold a charge, but the car starts right up with a charger on it. It will need new tires, but drives very nice with power steering, power brakes, and electronic ignition. This was the top of the line for Rambler and the last year for the Rambler name. Car is located just east of Houston, TX. I’m asking $7000 obo. Price reduced to $6000

I'm putting this back on the market. It has a new battery, it's a small one, but it will get the car around. I'm asking $6000. It's a head turner and a nice land yacht on a spring or summer day.

That was the top-of-the-line car for Rambler back in the day. My dad talked Rambler into giving him a franchise in '62 after he had been turned down by Chrysler/Plymouth that same year. He did so well with them that Chrysler approached him in '64 and "offered" HIM a franchise, which he accepted. I think he terminated with AMC about 69-70. But I remember those cars well. Thanks for the nostalgia trip and good luck selling. You'll never see many of those around, quite a rare bird.

Thanks. I like to hear stories like that. I grew up around an Oldsmobile dealer in the '80's and would love to have an '80's Cutlass some day. But, we're downsizing and I just don't give the car the credit it deserves by getting it out and around. The last time I did drive it to town, I had 3 people stop and ask what it was and how nice it looked even in a "survivor"state. It's just got such nice clean lines, it looks classy to me.

Classy, yes. Has somewhat of that older squared up Mercedes body line to it. And the white Charger parked in the one photo looks really good! How about a few pix and details of it. Now I'm wondering if there is a "For Ramblers Only" web site. Think I'll look now. Thanks.

That Charger has a story of it's own. I almost got rid of it, but my father talked me into keeping it. I've tried to get it going for a couple of years, but there's always something in the way. Maybe this year. I'll try and find the original post where I explained how I had it in '94 and lost it, only to find it nearly 20 years later.

Here's a little longer story. http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/showthread.php?9794-67-Charger
I believe I'll get to the Charger a little more without the Ambassador as well.
