Hi guys', I'm assembling my 1966 Satellite and I have lost some of the pre-disassembly photos. The holes lower steering mount bracket are very large and I'm wondering if they originally had some kind of bushing or grommet in them. There isn't any fastener marks on the surface of the part and that makes me think there was some thing additional in there. I would appreciate any knowledge/information that you guys' have. Thanks Brian. IMG_0479.jpg

Hi I just removed a column and it looks like it has the same bracket so I will send you pictures when I get home.

I think if I remember right that they just used bolts with large washers that covered the holes.

Hi lewtot184, I wish you wouldn't be so verbose.

there is nothing to shim. The larger holes are for centering the center column shaft in the center of the tube so the seal at the bottom is on correctly and does not tear when steering wheel is turned

Here are some pictures of mine hope this helps. It looks like there were large washers holding it down.

Thank you RT K_line, I don't know why my bracket didn't show the washer marks. You were very helpful, thank you again, Brian
