Hey y'all

I just finished rebuilding and installing a 440 in my '66 Coronet 500. Back in the day, what numeric chrome emblem went on the front fenders to designate the 440 engine option? I haven't been able to find a replacement part(s) through Year One or other channels. Feedback or photos would be helpful.

Actually nothing, the 440 was never offered in a b-body in 66. What Chrysler generally did was show something if the car had an optional engine. For example, if the base was a slant 6, and the car had a 318, it would say V-8. When they got to the 383 four barrel then they spelled it out. In 67, RTs and GTXs had nothing on the side if they came with a 440 because that was the base engine. Again though, if they had a Hemi, then it would say that.

Now for a little trivia, and I'm probably gonna get shut down on this one, but I just have to ask. What two cars came with the 440 pot metal emblem similar in style to the 383 four barrel. One said four barrel and the other said magnum. I'm not even sure which came on which.

As far a your 66 goes, put what ever you want on, either V-8 or 440, you can get either.

Sorry, I should have said this earlier, but that is one beautiful 66 you have there.

For 66 the "383 Four Barrel" emblem was loacted where your "V-8" emblem is on a 500 Model (in place of the "V-8" that came with any other V8 engine). The 67 "440 Magnum" emblem found on a Charger or R/T is the same design and font.

I believe the "383 Magnum" that is the same style and font was used on 68-70 non N96 cars.

I'm not sure I've seen a "440 Four Barrel", but I'm sure if there was one, someone will chime in.

I like the simple V8 on mine.

What do you have on there now? V8 or 383?

nice ride

Looking back through my pics, I don't see any 67 R/T's with emblems...maybe it was only used on the charger.

I'm a Coronet guy, maybe a Charger guy will add info.

Thanks for the feedback. Right now there is a 383 Four Barrel emblem on the car even though it had a 361 when I purchased it. Is that emblem really stuck on the car with adhesive/tape like I think it is?

If it's a factory one it's probably bolted.

Of course if you want a sleeper.....
