1966 Plymouth Belvedere II horn ring removal

Hello all. My recently acquired 1966 Plymouth Belvedere II has a horn removal issue! On this (fantastic) forum I read the horn ring is removed by pushing in and turning. I think my horn ring mount is damaged judging by its freeplay.

It's kinda difficult to get 66 rings centered and tight.

You should be able to twist the ornament bezel which will access the 3 horn attachment screws (Phillips)

Should be able to twist but, given how loose your horn ring is, hold it while you twist to the left. I'll be doing the same thing this morning on my 67 GTX.

My Charger ring is similar. Old the outer ring and twist the center where the Plymouth emblems is. That will come off and most likely the 3 screws that hold the ring to the horn switch or ring to the column have come loose or fallen off.
This is a picture of an old horn ring I'd saved. Once you get the center off, you will see it all.

I have the same issue of removing the horn ring years ago, I believe I had asked someone in this forum how to remove it and he said to twist with raising one side some like that I cannot remember exactly, kind a little trick.
Matter of fact I am trying to remove it now ( for an electric issue) but I couldn't, I am afraid to break something, that's why I am searching over again in the forum for r how to remove the horn ring.

Twist with a sharp motion.

I don't think you even need to push in.

Well finally I got it out,
as you said, I had to twist it in an angle, and it sure don't need a push down, just extra force depends on the horn ring grip to the base. Thanks for the info YY1.

That works on a 67 but I don't think it does on a 66. On the 66 you have to turn the horn ring counter-clockwise.

On my 66 satellite you push in on the ring at the 7 o'clock position and twist.
