I’ve been hitting marketplace hard looking for a four speed setup. Then reading up on what it takes to piece together a system and costs, etc. Then, this ‘67 popped up 120 miles from me.

1967 Charger. 383 four barrel (only the block, crank, intake, heads, and carb) Four speed transmission! Sure grip 8 3/4 with 3:23. Missing windshield. But seems like EVERYTHING is there as far as glass, wiring, trim, interior, etc.

I got into the Mopar game just a couple years ago and I own 4 (66-67) Chargers. I think I can get 3 runners out of the four cars and motors that I’ve purchased. Ironically, I need more healthy transmissions.

I might ultimately rebuild the original 383, but that’s not feasible right now. So I think she’ll get my ‘66 Imperial 440. Maybe I use the one year only (yes?) 915’s, get a dual plane Edelbrock intake and 750 cfm and pair it with the four speed.

Anyway, just excited on this find. Cheers!

LUCKY!

Ordering some parts today but have questions:
I have only dealt with hydraulic clutch systems. I don’t see the obvious clutch master cylinder on the firewall. And when I’m looking at clutch kit options, I see “lever style” and “diaphragm style”. I believe oem is that your clutch pedal actuates the clutch fork directly. And with some mods, the diaphragm would allow hydraulic assistance provided a clutch master cylinder?
Yes/no?

There weren't any hydraulic clutches on these back when new.
They typically had Borg & Beck ("3 finger") clutches from the factory:

The market these days is pretty much overwhelmed with the "diaphragm" style pressure
plates:

B&B are still out there, you just have less options in that style than you do with diaphragm -
and of course, they feel noticeably different when driving the car and as previously mentioned,
diaphragms necessitate removal of the clutch pedal over-center spring under the dash.

You can go hydro if you wish - but you're going to have to buy all the components for it and
cobble it up yourself to do so.

Hey how nice to find a parts car so close. Do you think you might want to give up that 383? Im in Mobile and my 66 has a late model 360. Been thinking about getting a 383 to put in it. Thanks

I’m keeping the numbers matching 383.
I have another 1968 383 with 2 barrel mani out of a 1968 Newport (locked). I also have a 1964 413 w/ four barrel mani. Spins over but likely needs a total rebuild.
