Looking for ideas about locating the swing out bar on roll cage for 67 Coronet. I want to keep arm rest intact and use window role up. I plan on installing a piece of 2x3 in front of front torque box under floor with a 6 inch piece of 1 5/8 coming out of floor. I am looking to keep door opener usable any suggestions.

Maby mount the bars to the door and have them pin to the cage when closed? Side impact protection would be questionable on anything that is not tied to the cage and single bars don't work well. I would love to put a cage in my 67 coronet but I want to keep my interior and don't want to climb in it Duke boys style.

If you are going to race the car where rollbars or a gage is required? Check with their tech officials!(NHRA,IHRA) The swingout bar must pass between the shoulder and elbow! There are requirements on the size of bolts or pins used along with clevis dimensions!

been a while since a did a cage to any rules but could you run it closer to the window ledge and bend an elbow to go down to the floor.if you had a loop at the dash you could just attach to that.it would end up above the crank and pad.how about an "s" curve in the run itself, again not sure of your rules limits.

My 66 Coronet has a full cage. The door bars are swing outs and are bent slightly to clear the armrest and the window crank. Haven't had any problems at tech with it this way.

looks nice! great job running the harness through the seat!! not sure i would like to have to swing the bars in and out though every time i got in or out of the car. but i guess thats the point of the swing out bars..

i just omitted the armrests on my dart. didn't figure they were all that important. windows work fine. never worried about swing out bars.

Could you put the bars inside the doors and have a set of lock pins to pin them when the doors are closed and not use the pins when not needed for regular driving? Window clearance? I did a set of these with three nascar style bars inside the doors and they pined at the front, back, and also at the bottom to a bar that ran the full length of the the rocker tied to the frame. It was a lot of work and had to redesign it a few times to get the clearance for the window and regulator. 1/2 in copper pipe with foam pipe insulation (the same size as your cage bars) over it works well as a mockup tool to figure out the bends and you can bend it by hand to adjust. Once you get your bends right pull out the mockup pipes and copy the bends. It's a cheap setup and works killer I'm interested in how this will turn out.

Thanks bro. Yeah you can see in the one pic that where its hinged it unbolts. I can just keep it out for regular driving. Just really wanted to keep the car with a full interior thats why I left it all together with the original seats. BTW. Nice Dart. I love my 70 Swinger.
