I was looking at my 1967 Dodge repair manual, section three, concerning rear axel specs and maint info. It states that a 9 1/4 inch rear end was standard on models with the 440 cubic inch engine with " Power Pak".
Can someone tell Me what "Power Pak" is? Thanks:eusa_doh:

I would think 440 cubic inch engine with Power Pak refers to the specific engine type. In 1967 that was the only year for the 2780915 casting # cyl head. It had re-shaped port contours to improve flow, and re tained the closed chamber design. Some heads had the 1.60 ex valve, while the GTX and R/T had the 1.75 inch ex valve. Most people think this is the best all around iron head for a big block. They also may have given the power pak engine hi perf ex manifolds, and a hotter cam. Which model car do you have? Hope this helps.

You mean 9 3/4 Dana right? I do not know about automatic cars but with 4-speed/440 combination, yes. I know where there is a 1967 R/T numbers matching car for $4500.00. The car went under during Katrina but car was totally restored a few months prior to storm. The drive train is supposedly in descent shape and not seized up. Unfortunately the car is a basket case now because of salt water intrusion. The vehicle is and was a 1967 R/T 440/4-speed with dana rear. The same guy has 1967 R/T 440/Auto and he is original owner with all documentation for 8K but needs restoration. The engine is service replacement in 1969 with all paperwork. Pretty sure the automatic car has 8 3/4 rear with sure grip.

a Posi Unit, Garys i think your correct now that i think about it more.

I am pretty sure all Dana option cars from 1967 came with sure grip differential and either 3.54 or 4.11 gear ratios. I will go out on a limb but 9 3/4 rearends in Mopar cars were all sure grip from factory and were placed in vehicles with hemi and 440 applications with 4-speed transmission.

I am looking for an options brochure, but what I have found so far is a difference in cam specs for the 440 Power Pak. The same spec cam is used in the 383 Magnum engine, so I would say the following:

440 Power Pak was the 440 4BBL HP (Magnum) motor. If you had the Power Pak option, you had the H-pipe exhaust, and could include the 4-speed trans with the Dana 60.

As a side note, there also was a Trac Pak available, but will have to dig further on that.
