I was looking at a 1968 Charger the other day and I noticed that the SO # started with an A, what's the deal with that. I know mine (1969) has the factory location, year and then a 6 digit serial # on the core support the 68 is the same only the 1st digit of the serial number is an A. It's just a parts car with no dash (vin) but I thought it was unusual, was 1968 different.

In 68 instead of the serial number they used the, IIR, SPO # or something like that, which corresponded to the the fender tag instead of stamping the vehicle serial number on the body.
