Just got my gas cap, trim ring and other parts from the chrome
Shop. I’ve installed my gas cap and it won’t stay latched. The chrome shop removed the roll pins and reinstalled them afterwards.

I’m suspecting the spring on the latch side is the wrong size and/or installed wrong. However I cannot find any diagrams or pics to figure it out.

I think my fuel filler neck is up enough to touch up against the quarter panel. Also I think I have enough threads through to the filler neck flange.

If anyone has up-close photos of how it’s supposed to work and be assembled, that would be great.

Spring orientation shown. Also the original appearance on the '68 cap had a circular brushed finish on the center raised section.

Looks like the spring is holding the latch open or in the released position.
