Hi Everyone,

I’m a long time viewer, reader and have had an account for a while, I wanted to introduce myself.

My project is a 1968 Dodge Charger originally a A/C car with a 383 (engine and tranny are long gone). I have the VIN & fender tag. I also have a 1969 Charger also originally a 383 car with the broadcast sheet, VIN & fender tag.

I started working on the 1968 a few years ago. The 1969 Charger came with a late 1968 440 engine 727 tranny and 915 heads that have been restored and now is in the 1968 Charger. The floors have been patched and a new trunk pan has been installed. I’ve installed a Vintage Air ac unit and I found a 1970 ac dash that I restored and installed. The car was a column shift but I replaced the column and am looking into installing a Winter's Sidewinder Lockout Shifter and line lock. I’ve linked two videos I made of the build so far.

Thanks,

Joel

Welcome from Indiana! Sounds like you are on track to build a nice 68-70 Charger! That will come in handy when looking for parts. When it says '68-'70 Charger, you can simply say "Yes!" :p

My next challenge for the 68-70 Charger Franken-Monster (been looking for a good car name, ideas welcome) is to figure-out an ignition switch, after I bought the 1970 AC dash (1970 dash wiring harness) I realized now I don't have an ignition switch on my column (1969 I think... full moon steering wheel) or dash, going for that shaved dash look just kidding. The engine compartment is wired as a 1969 and the tail lights 1968 lol.

An good Ideas for my ignition switch?

Rocker switch for off/acc/on and use a washer button for ignition. Keyed switch hidden in console to cut off all power.

Welcome aboard!

The rocker switch and washer button is a great idea. I think with the Vintage Air System that switch will be free.

I'm using a Winter's Sidewinder console and shiftier, I could mount a key on that or in the ash tray.

My first car (69 Coronet) used the washer button to start. It was that way when i got it and never changed it. Guessing there was an issue with the ignition switch.

Sounds great, I really like that idea. My brothers and nephew will get a kick out of this idea and the challenge. Thanks
