New Member here,

Bought the car in March for around $4,000. Runs, Drives, and makes noise.

Basically bone stock

-273 V8 - Edelbrock intake, Edelbrock 1406 carb, M/T valve covers....thats it.
-8.25 rear
-Auto

Some of you OE guys may not like this build but I hope it brings interest.

My goal with the car is more Pro-Touring oriented. Would love to beat imports at the local road course or autocross.

Pictures to come!

When I brought it home. I had been in the house for maybe 2 months before I bought the car. So you will see my garage progression as well! haha

And the current car. It was born tan, sprayed Sublime Green, repainted red, then I made it mean with an Olive Drab green...I couldn't stand the bondo patches.

The black trim is sprayed with plasti-dip not paint. I can peel it off.

I like how you painted the chrome black. It works.

Are you gonna spray a finish on it or are you gonna keep it a matte?

No finish....its outdoor spray paint so its pretty tough. It was just to get the car one color. I will eventually repaint the car from bare metal but its will be the last step.

That is a good candidate for a pro touring. Make it look non-threatening on the outside while your watching them in your rear view.

That's a solid start for any project you might want to do. Welcome to the board.

Agreed that thing is an inspiration to me

The guy who owns it is a blast to talk to. He sent me his phone number and told me all he had done to the car in a bout 2 minutes. He a fast talker, that guy. PM him over at Pro-Touring if you want some tips.

You probably have seen this thread, then. My favorite 1968 Coronet Pro-Touring is here at post #171.

Ooooooooh yeah I've seen it. I watch every episode of Big Muscle. Very nice car.

I would be terrified if mine looked that good. I wouldn't want to cut donuts and would be terrified of shopping cars!

Hell of a car though.

thanks mechanic I might just do that

The 68 Coronet is my all time favorite. As a kid my dad bought a 68 R/T new and my sister had a 500. You are one lucky guy.

Hey guys I need some help.

My brother bought a 1973 Charger to snatch the 440 and trans out. Trying to see what parts I could salvage and use before he takes it to the junk yard. All I can think of is the brakes and the booster. Would the factory discs and booster match up to my car?

Looking forward to watching this car go through it's transformation... keep us in the loop on plans and ideas plz

Even if they don't, I would grab them anyway. Don't forget to get the spindles while your at it. And also the proportioning valve too.

Yes, as roadrunnerman already stated, grab everything brake related up front, spindles, caliper, rotors, booster, master cylinder, proportioning valve. Should all bolt right up to your 68. My 68 Runner has the brakes from a 73 Runner swapped in.
