So I purchased a wood grain steering wheel from PG Classicsand installed it yesterday. The gap between the steering wheel and the column is about 3/8 inch wide. I installed the original wheel and the gap is about a 1/4 inch wide. Does anyone else have this big gap? Center picture is of the original one

At that distance will the ground on the turn signal switch even touch?

Something does not look right there. Pull the wheel and post a pic of the underside of the wheel.
 
Do you mean horn? I suspect the wheel is CCJ Cheap Chinese junk.
Yes the ground for the horn comes off the Turn signal switch. The horn switch is on the steering wheel...
 
Thanks for the comments. The turn signal return arm works I did check that. I don’t know about the horn but I will check that out. I feel that Thai is just the the repops are done.
 
Ok, I got the steering wheel closer ! It’s at 1/4 inch gap. Had to put a thick washer under the nut to get it to go on further
