Hello all, I am new to this forum and figured it would be a good place to ask questions about a recently purchased Mopar.
I have always been a Chevrolet guy but love all cars and have always liked Mopar. Therefore, I just recently picked up a solid 1969 Coronet 440. It has a 68 model 440 in it with a big cam. Sounds awesome. Anyways I have always like the Superbee trim package soni want to clone this car. I will make the car somewhat pro touring while still sticking to the original appearance. Anyways I know the tail panel and grilles are the same on the superbee and coronet. I know about the badging on the trunk and grilles, gauge package but are there anymore features I am missing? I know some superbee had twin scoops on hood and quarters. What cars had these? Also the biggest thing that is puzzling me is the tailight lens. My passenger lens has a square shape that somewhat protrudes out and the driver side lens are smoother. Is this supposed to be the way, one lens for super Bee and one for coronet, or did dodge change lens mid year or something. I initially thought the newer lens were repo but I do not see where companies reproduce this. Which is correct? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
David

As for the tail light lenses.......... pre Jan 1 ish, 1969 were the more "square & protruding" style. After Jan 1 ish, '69 the smoother looking style was used. Most likely one of your tail lights has been replaced at some point in time.

The back housing changed from early too late also. The early version has two bulbs thus two humps and the later has three bulbs thus three humps

the tail panel was painted differently between the 2.

Twin scoops was the n96 option. It came with the 383 and 426hemi. Side scoops were an option as well.

Any idea of the best place to purchase the tailight lenses? I like the smoother look better. Am I correct that nobody repos them?

Any pics of how it should be painted? Mine is black between taillights I think.

that's what my tailight looks like that is currently on the car. The front grille is a stainless color, should it be black? Oh yeah my brother has one of the rumble edition trucks like in the background. It's a 2004, I think and has like 40k miles on it. It is the true edition truck with the black and yellow leather interior. I have see some that have stock interior.

front grille is stainless color, not black
its a older pic
the truck is long gone and a ivory white pearl tri coat
1 of 43 Hellcat Challenger is in its place..

Sounds like fun. In my Chevrolet collection I have a 67 camaro pro touring with twin turbo ls engine. I am sure you love the power. Also have a 69 Camaro thatbim building thatbis the b5 blue from the 2010 challenger with a bright viper white hockey stripe. When that color first came out I thought it was the best blue I had ever seen. I would love to have a hellcat that color!

I am on several car forums and this has been one of the most informative with the quickest responses. Thanks KS everyone.

i used to own a super mint lo mi 67 camaro vert

As far as I know, no one reproduces the lenses. A swap meet is your best option to find them, although I think I have a couple of the smooth variety stashed away. What is your build date for your car? Late '68 should have the squared edge type, not the smooth type.

Any links to where I can decode the VIN to see what options the car came with?

Online VIN decoders are not very reliable, and the VIN by itself will not tell you what options the car came with. If you want to decode your car, you could post a photo of the fender tag here. If you have the broadcast sheet for the car, it helps even more. There are several members who are VERY good at decoding them and I'm sure they would be glad to help you. One in particular is 69coronetRT.
