1969 Coronet Super Bee exhaust tips

I put a 2.5" TTI exhaust system on my 1969 Coronet Super Bee (383, four speed) and the old system had turn down exhaust tips. I was told by the mechanic that straight chrome tips were an option for the Super Bee. Is the mechanic correct that turn down were standard and chrome straight rectangular tips were an option?

(Edited as oval were for Plymouth vehicles)

Just had a peek in the option code list, not sure how complete this is but it says that there were only a few options and only available on later models, '70 -'71 Code N42 chrome tips.

Edit: just curious, how does that exhaust sound?
I also want to go for a 2,5" TTI system, H-pipe or X-pipe?

I know the '68 Super Bee wasn't available with chrome tips at all. In '69 it was....
what you got if you didn't get that option is the question though, eh?

I have not run the car with the new system. It has Dynomax Super Turbo (quiet) mufflers on it now.

Was that option called Noise Reduction Package?
What kind of list is that what you showed? Just curious.

That's the "tailpipes - dual exhaust" portion of the factory parts manual for the 1969 models.
Specifically, the section for dual exhaust 383 cars without the chrome tip option, which took a different pair of tail pipes.
The ones circled in red are for the "W" (Coronet) cars.

All i know is that if you bought a 69 roadrunner in california, it got a mandatory noise reduction exhaust system, with turndowns in front of the bumper. No chrome tips. I assume a bee would be the same.
49 state runners could get optional tips, which meant that the tailpipes were different, because the chrome tips came straight out the back, beyond the leading edge of the bumper. I dont know if bees were the same.

I can say categorically, that my Bee (Lynch Rd, built for Canada) did not come OE with Chrome tips and has always had turn downs.

Hughhh, Some models had block heaters ? Never heard of that implied anywhere on anything that wasn’t diesel.

My 1970 roadrunner had two block heaters. Wish I had them plugged in when the engine froze.

That seems to be in agreement with the FPM - if you didn't have a noise reduction exhaust (in some cases mandatory where one lived?) you got the bright tips and the straight cut tailpipes to accommodate them.

There's a good question - was there actually a different parts manual (and apparently, different equipment sometimes) for Canadian Mopars? I've always wondered if they went to that extent...

Nope, never one in the car.. but I know where it's been since the day it drove off the lot. No wheel well trim either..
