I have a '69 RM21 Roadrunner (Post Car) that I am finishing a 4 year restoration project on. The driver's side rear pop out window is loose when it is closed and won't seal against the weatherstripping. It was this way when I bought it several years ago and I didn't do a lot of looking into it before I tore the car apart. I thought it was just a problem with the old worn weatherstripping that wasn't allowing it to fit snugly enough and that it would be corrected when I put the new window seals in.

Anyway, with new rubbers installed, I still have the same issue and can't seem to find any way to adjust it. Is there some adjustment method I am missing or has anyone else had this issue?
I have gotten a ton of information from searching and reading the discussions on this forum since I joined it. It has been way more helpful than any of the literature I have purchased about the car.

Thanks in advance for any information.

Those windows have a channel with 2 piece plastic guides in them up in the front. It is like the ones used on the front door glass vent run channel and the repair pieces for those may work. Check with your Chrysler dealer they where still available through them for the vent window channel.

In which direction is the glass loose to the rubber triangle seal? As I recall, you have a slight bit of adjustment with the chromed pot metal latch at the rear of the glass in a horizontal fashion. As mentioned above, the front edge of the quarter glass uses the mylar glass channel runs as used on the front leading edge of the door glass that slides in the stainless track. This seal has a lip on each side that will tighten up the front of the quarter glass. They were discontinued last summer from Chrysler and most have been snatched up. A reproduction is available. It is not of the same quality as the factory piece, but will work fine if you take your time and install it properly. The reproductions are expensive and the original factory pieces are VERY expensive.

I'm sorry, I should have been a little more clear about where it is loose. It is loose when closed near the pot metal latch toward the rear corner of the window. The latch seems to actually push the window away from the seal during its last little bit of travel as it closes. There is a small metal band and screw that holds the latch together. I tried disassembling it in the past to see if I could move that around somehow to tighten it up but didn't have any luck with that.

There should be a thin rubber like washer on each side of the glass where the latch pivot point attaches to the glass. Are they still in place? It would not be much, but you would possibly gain a 1/16" by using two washers on the exterior side of the glass. These seals are available as reproductions and we are working on the grommet as well.
