Did 1969 super bee 383hp n96 package cars ever come with a holley carburator from the factory. Reason I ask is that when I found my bee the engine was out but I found several parts on the shelves of the garage it was in and bought them with the car. I just decoded the avs carb I found on the shelf and its not correct as its a 4640 s. I also have a holley attached to a correct intake manifold for the car and it has factory overspray paint on the carb base. I don't have it in front of me now so I cant tell the number but its a single feed 4160 looking carb. Just wondering if they put those holley s in a 69 bee with 383 n96 package. Thanks?

No.

69 Super Bees with A/C did come with a Holley because they had the 330 horse assembly.
69 Super Bees without A/C had the 335 horse engine with the Carter.

Since A/C and non A/C cars could have automatics or four speeds the transmission has nothing to do with the carb. It's about the A/C unit.

Since N96 was N/A with A/C any 69 Super Bee with N96 would have a Carter.

There is a legend at the bottom
C is carter
H is Holley

I do not believe the Holleys were used on N96 option. The correct carb should be an AVS, with 1-7/16" primary bore and 1-11/16" secondary bore. The Holley was used on 440 low hp applications. For 71, I believe the Holley was used on 383 automatic cars (R4668 50 states for vapor storage systems). The Holley used the backward idle mixture system.....fixed idle fuel feed variable air bleed. Most of the AVS carbs had an adjustable off idle air bleed which caused an off idle stumble, due to a lean mixture for the CAP system (very easy to fix). Anyway...sorry for the ramblings.....but carbs are something I do know about. Questions?

the Carter AVS #4368S came on the 1969, 383, 4bbl, A/T, A/C.... I have one that needs rebuilt. I would be willing to part with.

In checking '69 B body broadcast sheets, I find that most 899 engine assemblies (B body 4bbl 383 with AT and AC) code CARB 38 for the R4440 Holley.

I have one June built Charger with the 899 assembly that codes CARB 91 for the 4638 AVS. This seems to be the exception.

Unless one has a broadcast sheet listing anything other than the R4440 Holley, this would be the most likely application for a '69 383 AT/AC car.

Just thought i would jump on this thread. My 69 rag came with 383 4 speed with air. I bought a carb from ebay and thought it was the right one. Carter 4711 SA. Not right for my car ?

Different application, different carb.

The '69 383-4bbl manual with A/C is the 897 assembly. Broadcast sheets from those cars code CARB 98 or the Carter 4711 S (SA).

Unless your broadcast sheet codes differently, that would be the typical carb for that application.
