I am looking to buy a 1969 Super Bee 4-speed and have a few questions about the 'numbers matching' the seller is claiming. Could you get the power bulge hood with the side inlets (look like mini jet engines on the side) instead of plain indentations? I always see the side inlets with the dual air intakes on the hood. Can you get the turn down exhaust without the squarish tips like on my R/T? Sorry, I do not have any pictures,
Thanks,
Mark

The M46 side scoops were available on the R/T and Super Bee,regadless of hood. N96 (ram charger) or standard hood (bulge) didn't matter. No turn downs came with super bee or r/t. But if you want turn downs, they are available.

i thought the 383 cars had turn downs and 440 and hemi cars had the chrome/square tips.

Wasn't it a requirement at least in CA that they have turn downs instead of tips? Can't remember when that started

There are plenty of people to correct me. To the best of my knowledge .... N97 in '69? '70 for sure. Mid model year (anything after 1-1-69)?

All the 68 and 69 Super Bee's seem to have the square tips like my R/T. I do not like the look of the turn downs, but I also want it to look authentic.

my 383 road runner had turn downs. my 69 r/t has the chrome tips. i know the 440's had a larger head and tail pipe than the 383's and the tips on my r/t would have been too big for the stock road runner tail pipes. i remember puttin some 440/hemi mufflers on the road runner and the factory pipes, head and tail, were too small. california did do some kind of ban on the exhaust coming straight out the back, noise thing i think. there could have been some regional differences, don't know for certain. i do know all 69 super bee 6-pak and hemi cars did have the straight chrome tips.

My 69 Sickpack Bee has turndowns. Never had chrome tips.

The '68 Bee's had turndowns.. I did put a set of square crome tips on mine a couple years later, but can't for the life remember what they were. Probably '69 R/T???

My 69 Superbee I bought new had turn down's. The turn down was standard on 383 cars, although you could order as an option at extra cost Chrome tips. The Chrome tips were standard on R/T and GTX. Hope this helps

I'm wrong. All the ones I have noticed had the extensions. Then again, I never really looked that hard. I thought the '68 brochure mentioned chrome exhaust tips, but I can't find it now. Sorry for the confusion. But I know better now.

I don't know the whole story but it's my understanding that if the car was built for California it got the turned down tailpipes.
My '69 Bee was built in L.A. and sold in L.A. and got the turned down exhaust, no chrome tips.
My '70 Charger R/T Six Pack was built in St. Louis, but was built to be a Dealer Demonstrator for California delivery; it also came with the turned down exhaust, no chrome tips.

I bought the Super Bee and waiting for a transporter to deliver it to me in Pittsburgh from Illinois. It is a Mr. Norms Super Bee and will look great next to my R/T. I am selling my 1971 Demon 340 if anyone is interested on www.forabodiesonly.com ,

Congrats on buying the Bee! Any pics to show?

Hopefully I will have it by the end of the month for a photo shoot and then a nap until spring,
