I'm looking at a 70 B Body. Fender tag has E-68 383, A31 3.91 high performance axle package, and D21 Heavy Duty 4-speed.
I was thinking all 4-speeds got a Dana 60, maybe that was just 440 and Hemi cars. Could you order a 383 car with a 4 speed and 8 3/4?

Only 440 Magnum/Super Commando ,440 Sixpack/Six barrel, and 426 Hemi equipped cars got Dana 60 rear axles as standard equipment with the D21 4 speed transmission in 1970. The transmission would also be the 18 spline A 833 "Hemi" 4 speed transmission instead of the 23 spline A 833 4 speed transmission used in 383 cars. The standard rear axle for a 383 car with either a 4 speed or an automatic transmission was an 8 3/4 rear axle, the Dana 60 rear axle was not available on a 383 equipped car.

Thanks for clarifying it for me.
