Hi guys, anyone ever install the aftermarket tail panel extension moldings with the plastic fasteners with the plastic dowels that press inside fasteners? This system doesn’t work. Im leaning towards body molding tape. I think it’s nice but no way it doesn’t line up to holes. Also the plastic fasteners do not fit in molding after you have to slot them like the factory style. Thoughts? 1970 GTX.
Thanks!!

Yes, I think that is factory’s I don’t know why they offer that plastic crap! I will figure out what that size is and talk to Tom at R/T. Still that middle hole no way will line up but I think the top and bottom will. I would have a better understanding if I had the original. Thanks for the tip…!!

@Slipping727 That's not how the factory attaches that trim to the car.

They have threaded studs that mount to the trim then go through the quarter extension and the body and a nut goes on inside the trunk.

That’s interesting seems as though there are a couple different ways to attach but you are right look at pic my tail panel was replaced holes welded up. Wonder if I can locate the long ones I found the spring clips Detroit muscle.

Interesting, My GTX that I have owned since 1978 has the mouldings attached with the 3 little spring clips and a screw with a very thin head attaching the tab of the moulding. Back in the late '70s, early '80s I removed the original mouldings from a couple of Sport Satellites that were attached this same way.
So, I looked in my Plymouth parts book and they show 4 retainers and 4 nuts for the mouldings?
Oh well, always interesting with these old cars.
