What are the differences between the Big Block K-Member and the Hemi K-Member. I understand the Hemi had a skid plate. Are they the same shape? What about motor mount location?

Putting a Hemi in a Charger and have three choices:

1) Pay for a hemi K-member if I can find one?

2) Use motor mount adapters

3) Modify existing K-Member.

Thanks in advance.

There are a couple of places out there selling "hemi" K frames. Ya have $500 (or more) you can get one. (google is your friend) You can use conversion mounts, but you'll have to make sure what exhaust will fit with them. There are also people out there that will turn your K into a Hemi K for a price.

Does anyone suggest a good vendor to convert a Big Block to a Hemi K-Member?

Mega Parts in Wisconsin will convert it. Or you can use Shumacher Mounts with TTI headers. Just remember for Hemi install, the Schumacher mounts will raise the engine in the engine bay by 1 inch if you use a cross ram manifold you wil have a hood clearance issue.
The Hemi K Member modification will run you with Motor Mounts over 1000.00. That will Include the modification to the K member, then you will need the engine brackets, and Isolators figure 1100.00. Also if you install a Hemi you may want to use a set of steel valve covers verus cast in case you have to ding the valve cover, for clearance. Are you going to run Power brakes or manual?? Hemis are not like working with a Wedge Motor. Vazlve Cover clearance to Brake booster. You will need a heat insulator for under the Hydraulic master Cylinder and I would recommend .960 diameter Torsion bards and also reinforcements to the K member idler location.

I have added a Wilwood brake system including new master cylinder. I do want to run power brakes. Thanks for the advice. I am concerned about vacuum for the power brakes. This will be an adventure.

If your running a stock cam do not worry. You can add a vacuum pump if a problem develops. Also the small 8 inch dual diapram from Pirate jack works well.

Not exactly stock... we will see.
