Hey folks, have a question. I've got a 1970 Super Bee with the Power Bulge hood. What issues could arise from replacing the solid insets in the non-funtional hood with a mesh to make it a FUNCTIONAL air induction? I will be putting in a six pack system this summer. If taking in water is the issue during a downpour, can I modify or use an air cleaner assembly from a different mopar model? Also, any knowledge on why Dodge made the hood non-functional? Just looking for clean, cold air…

i dont see an issue with doing that mod because the factory plate that is there already has a gap on the bottom so water would get in no matter what, so i would have to say try it to find out.

I ran mine that way for several years.

I just took off the plates.

It helped let hot air out more than any ram air type of effect, but cooler under-hood air is always better.

I never had an issue with rain, other than you know there are going to be stray drops occasionally.

In fact, it's not overly obvious that the block-off plates are removed, because they are recessed.

I love that hood .. wish they had made it functional for the get go

The hood, the car.

Here's a couple of picts of the '70 Bee with the hood in question. Looking at many threads, sounds like replacing the solid plates with a mesh will allow for a bit more cold air in, and some heat out at idle, but not nearly as significant as the '70 Ram Charger hood. I still am partial to this clean look of the Power Buldge… looks fast and mean. Gotta look it if you can't be it with so many 35MPH signs everywhere in the burbs. Time for a road trip for some fast open road!

Nice car.

I like the looks of that hood better, too.

I had styrofoam plugs with "remove before flight" tags on them for mine.

I would like to graft that hood scoop on our Daytona's hood...I like it
