What is the deal with '70 Superbee grilles? I see nice cars with all black grilles, all silver, silver outside with black inside, some with a red outline, some with the DODGE emblem and some without.

Even on original ad material I see some with the red and some without, but most of them are silver surround with black inside, some with an emblem and some without. is there a correct grill paint scheme? and is there supposed to be a grill emblem or not?

We've all thought about this at one time or another! What I've come to believe is that some of the pre-production 70's had the red on the grille and some even had a Dodge emblem. By the time production started the red was gone and there are no emblems on either the R/T or the Bee's. I look at survivors every time I get the chance and I've not seen any with the red on the grille. The holes are there for an emblem but I've only seen emblems on the Non performance Coronets.
Just my two cents!

I bumped the 70 Bee photo thread up so you can see lots of 70 Bee's!

This FC7 car is a survivor!

Thanks, the NOS grilles that came with my car look just like yours and with no emblem. I've come to think this was correst but I wasn't sure since they could have been foe any 70. I think the red outline looks neat, matching the tail panel but if it isn't correct I'll leave well enough alone.
