1970 440 six pac motor

]Motor was in a 67 Coronet RT when I purchased the car and it ran strong even with the 4 barrel carb currently installed. I do not have the six pak carbs. I removed this motor in the process of restoring the car and now have the original 67 440hp motor ready to go back in. This is a good running 6 pak motor and complete from carb to oil pan but not correct for my 67 RT.

on this so called 71 6-pack motor {engine}, does it have the 6bbl intake & 3 Holley 2bbl carbs or the 4bbl intake & carb you mentioned ?? what kind of intake & carb ?? has the engine been rebuilt ?? what heads are on it ?? anything could really effect the asking price or an offer, it if actually had the original style 71 6bbl/Six Pack intake & carbs, especially for a 71 restoration project or for just a Hot Rod, it would be worth far more than the $1500 no doubt... good luck

Thanks for your input. As far as I know the motor is in good mechanical condition but minus the six pak setup. I revised the ad and added some pictures.

The casting number with the 440-6 does not designate a 6pk motor, that number is the core replacement index number. The only way to correctly identify it as such is match the vin number on the block pan rail to a known 6pk car.

I would clean that part number up real good and check out the stamped pad at the front of the engine right where the fuel filter is laying. There should be a letter and a year. D is 68, E is 69, F is 70 and so on followed by the CU Inch i.e. 440. Then sometimes followed by HP, HP2 ... What does the pad say?

Here's a guide to engine casting numbers http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=66

Thanks for your help. I'll post what I find on the engine pad as soon as I get back home.

Thanks for the very helpful information. The front pad does not have stampings that would make this a 6 pak motor. It shows 4I 440 and no hp like the 67 440hp motor I have to compare it to. I had no intentions of deceiving anyone and I am the only one that got screwed by the guy that sold me this pos car 8 yrs ago.

X2 .. there's a ton of knowledge and you had no ill intentions. It's still worth something though especially since it's

A: exceptionally complete 440 long block .. does everything on it come with?
B: it was a running engine when you took it out

Hopefully someone near you needs something like this.

Not everyone requires a HP stamped engine or high horsepower engine and some are looking for a later model 440 engine to rebuild anyway.
