This is a center section from a donor car that I purchased. 489 case, 3.23 Sure Grip. The gears are date coded 8-21-70 and were removed from a '71 so I believe these to be the original gears and Sure Grip. The car was a roller and I never drove it before sourcing the parts I needed. Pinion snubber threads are good as are the U-joint retainer bolt threads. 7290 Yoke (2 5/8" Inside, 1 1/8" caps) Gears turn freely and there appears to be no damage to any of the teeth. I clamped an axle in a vice to test the sure grip and it turns very hard. I was told this is a good way to test the Sure Grip(?). I assume this means there is a good chance that that it works.
