1971 Barracuda for $150

Was running when parked!

Even I would not want to save that one.

And I thought my project was in bad shape.

There used to be a Road Runner that AMD used as advertisement showing just how far you can go. I knew the car well, as I knew the owner about three owners before AMD. It was real bad. Not quite as bad as that cuda, but bad. They had before and after pics on their web site, but I don't see them now. They had the car in their showroom for a time. The before pics showed a tree growing through the car. I can attest first hand that it was growing out of the CAR, it didn't touch the ground. I knew the car when it still had an engine in it. Best we could tell, somebody had installed the #4 cam bearing wrong. It had taps in the oil gallery in the block with copper lines running to the valve covers feeding spray bars in each valve cover for the valve gear. It was real stupid. I think they had more work involved in their "fix" than it would have taken to fix it right. I actually pulled the drivetrain out of that car. We pushed it out behind the shop we were in and that's where the tree sprouted. We just let it grow.

Worthwhile re-body car if the build sheet has something interesting. Otherwise, it's a good title waiting for a future dynacorn body. Like it or not that's what happens to cars in this shape if they are cars of interest.

Will be worth $30,000 after the $40,000 resoration.

as someone else said "running when parked" -"yeah right"... or that will buff right out...LOL... Damn, I think even the VIN plate is rusted out on that beauty... you need a testiness shot after reading that advert.... I have spaghetti strainers with less holes per square inch... or sell it for $60k after spending 3000 hrs & $90k to restore it, that's perfect for the Graveyard Cars guys..LOL...

if someone idiot was to buy that or restrore that thing I don't know what would be more appropriate to slap the crap out of them or to congratulate them for so much work... elect them to be the next President of the, MORE Money than Brains club...

71 is my favorite year for cuda's and I had a 72. All that does is make me sad.

A little soap and elbow grease and she will clean up like new. I will bring a battery and some gas. I'm sure she will make it back to California!

.....but saying that, I bet there is still $150 worth of parts there. I am currently working on a 71, trust me.:sad10:
