Hey everyone so I have been watching this 1971 GTX on ebay and the bids have not moved and the buy it now price is $4500. I have been watching since it was listed. I know as soon as I post the link Im sure someone will snag the car.

The car says it is in Albany, GA, and I keep emailing (at least 4 emails) with no word back from the seller. I have asked about his shipping cost, rust on the GTX, more pics and still no answer about the car.

Is anyone in Albany, GA that might know who this is and if it is real or just another ebay scam.

This is the link to it-

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971-Plymouth-GTX-Base-7-2L-/280922631052?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item41684b2b8c

I would love to just bid on it or do the buy it now and have it shipped. So if anyone out there lives in this area and may know of this GTX or the owner please ask him to get in touch with me.

Thanks everyone, I think this auction is throwing up red flags all the way around and not sure if I should walk or not.

I would want to look it over before purchase. I bought a 69 Road Runner for 6000.00 last october. Had it running the next day, after it had sat for 12 years. These cars seem to still work ok after sitting around awhile. The trans and driveline hold up well.

If your interested in it, I would contact the seller and ask for more pictures, maybe of the under carriage, and the shape it appears, it would be possible that the fender tag is still on it, If he doesn't want to help answer questions or send you pictures, that would be a red flag good enough. From what you can see it looks decent but its the pictures thats there, they seem to be just general, most with a GTX would include all kinds of pictures so any looking can see it clearly these are just about as plain as it gets.

Yeah I've asked in a few emails for pics and more info and the fender no response from him at all.

If he wanted to sell it, he'd answer your emails. There's no photo proof of the VIN, and a whole lot of the car isn't shown. (Is it just me that's not seeing a "GTX" badge anywhere?) He's got ZERO feedback as a seller, and has 4 positive ratings only because he bought four things from others and paid for them. The $2,000 down payment is mighty steep for a $4,000 car -- $500 is the usual DP rate. Also read the fine print where it says "Buyer protection does not apply."

If it was me, I wouldn't just walk away, I'd run like hell.

Yeah I've let it to be one that is to good to be true and walking, running like Forrest Gump away from it.

Okay the auction ended and I get an email from the guy here is it.

The frame is good the car has rust but not rusted bad. The car used to have a rag top so as it been sitting water soaked thru the rag and cause bad rust spot in curtain area. I know these would be the things that will need to be replace the front driver fender, battery tray, Floor pan if you do it seperate then it will be the passanger side front and back, front and back windsheild and windsheild plate... The car comes with new front and rear bumper. all the other glass are good and still roll up and down. The car color was dark teal green. The 440 is the original engine in the car and original DANA 60 rear end. You can call me at 229-347-8928 i havent sold the car but you still interested give me a call and leave me an email address that i can send you more picture of the car....Sorry It took me a long time to get back at you. I will send the pictures

It didnt sell but man at $4500 and the work it needs. I found a 71 Roadrunner that is that price with the metal work done.

If you can't afford a $400 plane trip or gas for a road trip to see a $4500 "project" car in person, then you can't afford to fix a project car that was overpriced!

Right off the bat, there's a $700 bumper and a $500 dash pad.

...and if it didn't sell at $4500, I'd start at $3000.

I've been reading your threads for awhile and I think you could write a book about it.(seriously) Sell the book and buy the car you want.

Yeah this is one I passed on when I didnt hear anything back from the owner he sent it after the auction ended. I wouldnt start with that much money needing that much work.

The Road Runner will have all metal work done its up to me to put in paint, interior and motor work. The price of the GTX is the same of the Road Runner with metal work being done.

What do you mean? What kind of book? I do write and I do have a novel that will be out soon.

I ask a lot of questions and think before I buy and I also do hoping that maybe one of the threads will giver others looking some help as well.

I have grown up around cars and body work all my life now I have not done a lot of metal work myself I know what it will take to get it done. I have passed on cars in the past due to a lot of metal work not that it was beyond my dads skills just the time and money it took to do. I wasnt a paying customer so I had to work everything in on a free day my dad had at his shop to do the work.

The Road Runner Im looking at will have all metal work done and it will be sold with no rust issues to me.

Stay tunned as I'm working out a deal on that but first comes my class so that is slowing me down to getting and doing anything.

when I see a vehicle that is for sale or at auction , I look at it as vehicle coming into the shop I do a quick work work up on parts, labor and materials ,add that to the amount it could be purchase for and if it needs transportation to the shop ,and thats where I work from don`t get caught uo in the hipe or you`ll bury yourself :eusa_think:

Just remember this....."If it sounds to good to be true, it usually is". I have been down that road. 383MV

Sorry wasnt following earlier. I do have a youtube channel that will be started this week and will be on a lot of what I'm asking in questions.

I have thought about writing a book on MOPAR muscle cars and the working title right now is Mopar-Cars that changed a generation.

The channel for youtube will not only be about MOPARs but about anything and everything that has a gear to it. I will look at bikes, trucks, cars, muscle cars and everything MOPAR.

The channel is called GrabbingGears. I will also if I get the road runner show step by step of what I do to it. I'm also working out details with the owner of the Road Runner "Jermey" to maybe line up doing co-videos of what he does with it before I get it.

That section of my channel will also help promote his shop "Muscle Car Creations" and let him show off the skills that he has. I'm telling you guys the cars I have seen him do just blows my mind. The 66 Charger that he has coming out to make his debut with is going to blow minds.

I have been talking to him now for a little over a year from finding cars, parts, selling parts, talking cars and talking about life in general. He is a die hard MOPAR guy and someone I would call a friend.

Stay tunned over at the Road Runner thread as I'm still in talks about it and after signing up for classes I lost a little (chunk) of my car money but its a long class with a nation wide test at the end that when I pass I will be able to buy the car, pay for paint, motor and trans work and finish it up.

I'm not to worried about having that car for the show field that will be judged I want a nice very nice driver. I have been down the show car route before and I never really enjoyed the car I worried more about it then enjoyed and after having a stroke at twenty-nine along with some other life changing health problems I've learned I want to enjoy the rest of my life for how ever long I have and enjoying my next MOPAR is on that list.
