1972 440 timing

what should the vase timing be on a 70 440? its in a 68 car but the engien is a 72

Try 12-15 degree btdc for initial and 31-35 btdc at full advance as a starting point.

It should be what it wants. Low compression engines usually want more and the books say to give it less than what the earlier engines got...by the book. I usually start with 10 initial and go from there but end up with more when it's said and done and ended up with as much as 50 total on a couple....and both were low compression engines with cams meant for higher compression but both ran damn good with one of them being a 318 that ran 13.50 in a 72 Demon.
