Has anyone made the tool to remove the clips that surround the A/C coil and heater core under the dash? The factory service manual shows you how but I am looking for anybody's experience with this.
I want to clean out the enclosure and inspect the coils and install a relay for the compressor since I converted to R134A and removed the e p r valve in the compressor. It has never been taken apart since the factory assemble.

I just used a correctly sized flat blade screwdriver.

...but you can't get to the ones on the top.

I pried mine as far apart as I dared after taking off as many as I could, cleaned the gasket real good, and put a bead of silicone on it to stop the leaking of condensate I was getting.

I also cut down the gasket where it partially covered the valley that lets the condensate flow between the halves.

Poor design, if you ask me, kind of like an old oil leaking Harley.

I put bollts and nuts back on, and dang if it aint starting to leak again after 2 years.

ok I think I will leave it alone for now. I don't have to install the relay, I just have a hvac test temp gauge in the a/c vent and watch it while I drive. when it reads 35 deg than turn off the compressor with the car a/c switch
