my car broke down today the alternator gauge is not in the middle but moving to the left. my oil light turned on as my car turned off. I checked the oil and it was full. the car wont turn on. The engine is fine and there was no smoke. Can anyone help me with this problem.

If the Alt gauge is moving to the left its dis-charging unless the gauge is messed up. What do you mean it wont turn on? you said it broke down, what exactly do you mean with that? Did something happen or it just wont start?

If it just stopped, period in its tracks, Check the wiring to the Alt and battery. Check coil wires make sure there tight maybe one came off, loose.

yeah the car turned off on the freeway. the alternator seemed to be the problem. when i try to start the car it wont start. I was driving stopped at the freeway light and died on me. i did remember 2 days ago when i tried starting the car it made a weird noise like cracking noise but it was really loud and fast and the car did not start until the third try. dont know how to explain it. but the oil light comes on too. the gauge is not messed up because it worked before. any ideas?

If the oil light grounds out it will turn on. Have you checked for loose wiring?

car turns on now, the alternator meter moves once in a while and I disconnected the battery and the remained running. i dont know whats going on but my dad is checking it out.
