My 76 I purchased at the age of 16 in 2004, it got me hands on into cars, and most importantly, it introduced me to Mopars for the first time.

I have done a ton of work to the car over the last ten years. It currently has a 318 in it that I got a great deal on.(free). I did put a few parts and gaskets in it and have driven it little since I put it in storage after I got married.

The free18 as I have dubbed it, runs pretty well, but has had an abusive life in it's original home, a 72 Charger, and has pretty bad oil consumption that gets worse under load, I believe the rings are shot.

Recently I scored a 360 out of a 72 Dodge motor home with 80,000 miles on it. This engine is going in the Cordoba and it will finally have a 360 again like it did originally. All new gaskets will be installed and I am considering re-using the camshaft that I have in the 318 currently, but I am having second thoughts. This car will be a cruiser, I just want to warm it over a bit, future modifications will be an a518 trans and an 8.75 rear, but right now I am just focusing on just the 360 swap.

I am open to camshaft suggestions but I was thinking of the Comp Cams 20-222-3(.462/.470) Extreme Energy cam with matching valve springs gasket matching to a rpm air gap intake for the 360.

I will link to a video of the current setup running in the following post. It has a Summit 6901 cam, an LD4B Eddy intake and 1405 Eddy carb.

Sounds almost identical to my 67 318 charger.

I like it.

Good luck with the new build my man.

Also what valve springs are you using with the current summit cam?

I am glad it has that muscle car sound for sure, 2 1/2" duals from the no name headers back and flowmaster 40s.

Currently this 318 is running what I believe to be stock valve springs.(I know it should have better springs, but it runs well and has plenty of power to move this heavy car, not neck snapping of course, but it easily keeps up with traffic. I will be installing new valve springs in the 360.

Sounds nice. Mud flaps?

I HATE rock chips! :happy3: Yes I know they are beyond tacky, but I spent ALOT of time doing body work on this car, so for now I have trucker looking mud flaps. I will be unscrewing them though, I plan instead on clipping the mud flaps on with those heavy duty paper clips for road trips only and I will be putting that 3M clear plastic wrap on the low rock chip prone areas next summer.

No shame on the mud flaps. I personally went to Chrysler in 1985 and bought 4 for my Cordoba. I drove a lot more...uh aggressively back then but they looked good for the era and were effective in keeping the dirt and rock chips off my rust prone rear lower rear quarters. Yo Mud Flaps!!!

Yeah for mud flaps! Mine came with 4, adorned with racing flags. Just can't bring myself to take them off.View attachment 220988

Finally! The swap is happening soon!

Since I last posted, I purchased my first home and finally have my own garage, where the engine swap is starting.

I do not have the 318 pulled yet, but I believe that the oil burning that I was experiencing was due to an error on my part.

When I put the LD4B intake on the 318, I was in a hurry, it was weeks away from my wedding in 2011, and I was all preoccupied.

I forgot to check dowel pin to intake clearance and the intake was not fully seating on the heads, thankfully, the intake did not suffer any cracks.

The 318 will still get a closer inspection after getting pulled, and it will get used in another car one day.

I am porting the J heads that came on the 360, and installing 340 valvesprings to work with the .441"/.441" 276/286 114lsa cam that is in the 318.

Time to post pictures.

Here you can see the core shift issues in the Edelbrock LD4B. This gave me no guilt in opening up the ports to 340/360 size.

I opened up the intake ports just over 1/8" wider top to bottom at the pushrod pinch, opened to port window to match my Fel-pro gaskets. Also working on the bowls, it will be fun to see how my budget 360 performs in the Cordoba, more updates to come throughout April, stay tuned.

Starting tonight, I am going to get working unbolting everything and plan on pulling the 318 either Thursday or Friday night.

Got the 360 shortblock all ready to go with a new oil pump, swap meet windage tray, new cam, timing set/tensioner setup, water pump, and all new gaskets. Would have had the heads done by now but had some bumps in the road since last year. My dad had to have open heart surgery for an aortic dissection, thankful he is still here, been in the hospital since May 1st. Hopefully he will be home soon. Here are so pics of the Doba's 360.
