why does it have to be so difficult? Trying to get my 440 into my 1972 Roadrunner and I noticed that the both that holds the bracket to the mount was hitting the block. I found an older set that had a shorter bolt and they fit. Cool, Year One is about a mile from my shop so I went and bought a new set of 1972 mounts. Damn, Ling bolt the I had that "oh yea" moment. My numbered 1972 440 is over on the stand for another day and I'm working with a 1977 block. Yep, longer bolt ones fit the 72 but not the 77. Am I crazy?

Sorry about the type errors on the original post. I sent that from my phone in a moment of frustration. I've found motor mounts with different lengths of mounting bolts. The longer bolt hits the block which isn't good. The shorter bolt clears the block but all I can find has the longer bolt. Oddly enough the longer bolt version doesn't this the 1972 block but it does not the 1977 block. Am I doing something wrong? I find this to be very strange. the older looking mount in the picture has the shorter center bolt.

Is this a "concours" restoration? Why not just run a nut on the longer bolt, take a cutoff wheel to it & then loosen the nut to clean up the threads? A die would be better I guess.
