1978 Richard Petty kit car

I worked at Chrysler dealership back in the mid to late 80's and my bosses son ordered a new blue Plymouth Kit Car (I think thats what they called it) back in the 70's and still had till the mid 80's then sold it, I thought was pretty cool looking car back in the day. I have only seen one other one and that was at Mopars at the Strip here in Vegas a couple of years ago, they are a rare beast that's for sure.

that one is not worth 4k imo.
the valuable trim pieces missing would have to come off another kit car....
and you can buy a complete car for around the same, maybe a grand more.
that one looks like it was rode hard and put away wet.

these were basically volares with graphics and flashy trim.
i had a few of these bitd,aspen,aspen r/t,volare,roadrunner,etc etc.
a lot of them came with 318-2bbls,or a 360 4bbl.

I never saw the appeal in these, but I guess they were a product of the times.

There was one a few years back that was bought new, the owner wouldn’t let the dealer prep it, drove it home the 12 miles, put it away and never drove it again. Still had all the tags hanging on the mirror, seatbelts and other pieces of the like.

When I first moved to Nevada in '93 there was a local that drove it daily.Saw it around town for the first year then never again.
#41, I was working at a Dodge dealer when these kit cars came out. Along with the F body R/T's and RoadRunners.Because of being there in the late 60's(Muscle Car hay day) I thought they were a joke, smoger, crap.Wouldn't mind having one today though..
