I just found this rear end out at an estate sale. Trying to figure out if this case is bent or it just looks that way. Also wondering what is a good price to offer them. They’re letting stuff go pretty easily.

I'd say you did fine! I'd easily pay $60 just for the 742 case even without the diff, but if it's got a SURE-GRIP then you got a factory diff core to rebuild. It's nice to get caps/adjusters/7290 yoke too. Good score.

Was it bent?
It’s definitely not straight. However I can’t see any kink marks or stress marks on it. It’s also curved perfectly. I’m not sure how it happened. Once I get it taken apart I’ll figure it out

Collision? 742 case, and any kind of rebuildable suregrip....you did just fine at that price!
Looks like the tubes are bent forward. Who knows. Reverse at like 100mph and hit a curb maybe.

$15,000 in repairs, fire almost made it into the cab through the vent flaps behind the back seats. After repairs I broke my left axle twice before I shoved the truck up Ford's a.. Housing bent. This happened at 5AM on the morning we were to pick our daughter up after a craniotomy. Had to ride the subway to the hospital and get the Sister in law to pick us all up.

I don’t even know how to respond to that. I’m glad you were not in it or hurt. And you still pulled through with what you needed to do. Good job man!
