My '68 Sport Satellite is a hardtop car with no B-pillar. Been wanting to upgrade to 3-point belts for a long time, but haven't found a clean looking setup. I'm interested in hearing from those of you that have already completed this install with photos please. From what I can tell, I have 3 options:

1) Upper roof mount behind front of quarter glass
2) Rear window panel mount at upper seat level
3) Trunk mount with belts extending across rear seat

None of these look pretty, so I'm more interested in which of these is the most comfortable while still maintaining safety. I'm also interested in any other options you've come up with. Thanks in advance!

Here are a couple of example photos of 1 and 2. I couldn't find one for 3. SBelt1.JPGSBelt2.jpgSBelt3.jpgSBelt4.jpg

68 have a roof anchor? If so, that seems the best route. I have the XV Motorsports 3 point. They now sell an improved version with a better retractor housing. Gotta make sure it doesn't interfere with the door side seat hardware. Mine bumps the seat trim so it was removed to give the belt a better feed-path. They can be a pita but necessary. Thought about the Chrysler Sebring ragtop seats with the built in belts but it got complicated with the computer-electrical related inertia part.

Not sure if mine has a roof anchor. How do I tell? I don't see anything sticking out of the headliner. This was also originally a vinyl top car if that matters at all...I'll check your car out closer next time I see ya - maybe at blackhawk next sunday?

I'm steering towards option # 2 as shown in the Fig 1 diagram above, but with a slight mod. I was looking at the upper retractor part of the belt in my 2000 honda civic yesterday, which is very comfortable. It looks just like the Fig 1 diagram above except that it mounts 3-4" higher on the B-pillar that I don't have on my Satellite hard top. I'm wondering about mounting it like that on the rear window metal piece and fabbing up an adjustable riser with holes and pin like a jack stand (but hopefully nicer looking). This will create a better wrap angle around the shoulder than coming off from the ceiling. Thoughts and opinions of my approach?
