3 Speed Wiper Motor Question

Hello all,

I have a '68 Coronet and would like to switch from the 2 speed wiper system to 3 speed wipers. I see a lot of 3 speed wiper motors out there, most of which need some serious TLC.

Here's my question - I don't care about originality, but would like to know what years would fit & function in my '68. I know there are a series of different part numbers for the late 60's and early 70's, but I don't know if there are any substantive differences between them.

I don't want to pay top dollar for a restored, flawless unit - thanks.

Any 68'-70' three speed motor will work. You will need a three speed switch and the three speed bell crank for the motor

You will also need the 3spd bushing.

Can you advise me as to the suitability of later model years? I see quite a few '71 and up on eBay and wonder how they differ. Thanks.

68-71 wiper crank arm, bushing are the same. Motor is the same but the harness off the motor is different I think for 71 but may changes in 72. The pivots and rods are different.

Is this a three speed wiper motor? Took it off my 69 Coronet 500, work when I removed it.

That's a 2 speed motor

This "might" help you. My car came with 3-speed wipers and many years ago the wiper motor burned out. I found another one on a C-body, but the "rounded side" of the motor itself (makes sure the lever arm only goes on one way) was on the opposite side of my wiper arm (3" long piece that bolts to the wiper motor itself). I took a rat-tail file & rounded out the opposite side (so mine will now go on two ways). It bolted up and has worked for the last 20+ yrs.
